On the white sands of Embleton Bay, lapped by clear green seas intermingled with the dark blues of what lies in the depths. The dramatic Dunstanburgh Castle rises out of the sea perched on its rocky outcrop beneath low, sun fringed clouds. I had already done a soft pastel sketch at Low Newton before walking along to Embleton Bay where I also sketched this scene. I used the pastel sketch as a reference to paint this original oil on canvas board back in my studio.
