The dramatic sight comes into view just before descending to the white sands of Low Newton beach.
The backdrop of Dunstanburgh castle’s ruins sits on the rocky outcrop above the stunning blues and greens of the sea.
I took some photos at this spot on a beautiful sunny morning before walking down to the beach to do some sketching.
The photos were later used as a reference to complete this original oil painting on canvas board.
